Indications for Use

The Variable Torque Driver (VTD) is a precision dental instrument designed for use in surgical and restorative implant dentistry. It is intended to:

  • Apply controlled torque to dental implant components such as:

    • Implant screws

    • Abutments

    • Healing caps

    • Cover screws

    • Multi-unit abutments

  • Allow clinicians to adjust torque values as needed for different manufacturers and component types.

  • Be used in both surgical and chairside environments by qualified dental professionals.

This device is intended for professional use only by dentists, oral surgeons, or qualified dental practitioners who are trained in implant procedures.

Contraindications

Do not use the VTD in the following scenarios:

  • With non-compatible implant systems not verified by the manufacturer.

  • In the presence of excessive patient movement or instability.

  • On components that require torque beyond the specified maximum of the device.

Warnings & Safety Precautions

To ensure safe and effective use of the VTD, follow these precautions:

1. Pre-Use Inspection:

  • Always inspect the driver for wear, cracks, or debris before each use.

  • Ensure the torque dial and mechanical components move smoothly and click securely into position.

2. Sterilization:

  • Sterilize the device according to your clinic’s infection control protocol before initial use and between patients.

3. Torque Settings:

  • Always confirm the correct torque value for the specific implant system and component.

  • Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended torque specifications. Over-tightening can lead to screw fracture or implant failure.

4. Operator Training:

  • Use only by trained clinicians familiar with implant systems and torque protocols.

  • Improper use can lead to implant component damage or patient injury.

5. Avoid Dropping:

  • Dropping the device can alter calibration or damage internal mechanisms. 

Maintenance & Storage

  • Clean thoroughly after each use to prevent buildup of biological material.

  • Store in a dry, sterile environment away from excessive heat or humidity.

  • Periodically check for calibration accuracy using a torque testing device.
