Diamond Dental Bur, FG Shank

5 Burs Per Pack

When the case calls for a shoulder rather than a chamfer, you need a flat tip and a defined angle. Taft Diamond Burs — Tapered Fissure are designed to cut axial reduction and a square shoulder margin in one instrument, which is the prep most all-ceramic restorations want.

The flat end gives the lab a clean seat to build from, and dual-layer diamond bonding keeps the shoulder square around the full circumference — no rounding over into a chamfer halfway through the case.

Key Features:

  • Dual-layer diamond bonding for consistent cutting performance
  • Flat tip for a defined shoulder margin on all-ceramic preps
  • Available in coarse grit (green band) for bulk reduction and medium (blue band) for standard prep
  • Short and long head options for control at the gingival margin or full-length axial reduction
  • High concentricity for vibration-free operation
  • Friction grip (FG) shank — fits all standard high-speed handpieces
  • 5 burs per pack

WHY DUAL-LAYER

These aren't single-use burs. That's the whole point of the second layer.

Most low-cost diamonds are electroplated — one layer of diamond bonded to the shank. When that layer wears, the bur is done. It's disposable by design, and priced like it. Ours are built the other way.

A single-layer bur doesn't quit on you. It fades.

The grit rounds off, the cut goes shallow, and you compensate without deciding to. More pressure. More passes. Longer at the margin. That's bur drift, and on single-layer diamonds it starts early in the pack.

Dual-layer bonding puts a second bed of diamond under the first. As the outer layer wears, fresh cutting surface is already there. More usable life per bur, and a consistent cut across that life, so the last prep feels close to the first.

We spec them this way because a bur that cuts the same on Thursday as it did on Monday is what protects your prep quality and your chair time.

Reusable. Sterilizable. FG shank, fits every standard high-speed handpiece you own. Five per pack, direct-to-dentist pricing — because you're skipping the distributor, not the construction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our burs use dual-layer diamond bonding — the same construction spec used by premium-tier bur manufacturers. We source direct and sell at margins that distributors can't match. Try a kit against your current supplier and judge the cut yourself.

Yes. All burs use a friction grip (FG) shank, which fits all standard high-speed handpieces used in US dental practices. No adapter needed.

Bur life depends on a variety of factors. The dual-layer bonding extends cutting surface life vs. single-layer alternatives. If you aren't happy with the cut, let us know.
